Softbank, ZTE Join Hands for Android Smartphone Rollout in Japan

Japanese telecom operator Softbank and Chinese telecom equipment supplier ZTE jointly announced on December 14, 2010 that the two companies will release the co-developed Smartphone Libero in Japan later in December this year, according to a press release by ZTE. Run on Android 2.2 operating system, it is reported that Libero is the first Chinese Smartphone to enter the Japanese market. The two companies also plan to team up for the launch of eight terminal products in Japan starting from October 2010 to March 2011. It is projected that the eight models include Smartphones, high-speed data cards, modems, 3G monitors, and mobile phones.
